Pasko 2020

The Philippines celebrates one of the longest Christmas seasons in the world, from the period of Advent often beginning in November and ending with the Feast of the Three Kings in January. This is an intensely active period for singing and music making. In 2020, the year of the great pandemic, locked in our homes and separated from each other, we, the musicmakers and dreamers of dreams, continue to raise our voices in celebration of Christ’s birth and the hope it continues to give us in the darkness of the year!

Christmas Medley

The U.P. Cherubim and Seraphim greet the Savior on the day of His birth with a slew of well-loved, festive carols.

Wishing everyone a blessed, healthy holiday season!

Payapang Daigdig

We welcome the New Year with the fervent hope for peace expressed in the classic “Payapang Daigdig” composed in 1946 by Felipe Padilla de Leon in a beautiful arrangement for massed choir of children and adults by Lucio San Pedro, commissioned by Flora Zarco Rivera and Andrea Ofilada Veneracion specifically for the U.P. Cherubim and Seraphim and the U.P. Madrigal Singers in 1972. This song memorializes the strong bonds of respect, esteem and affection that existed within the small community of musicians in the Philippines at this time.

May the coming year bring us even closer to the goal of peace on earth and hope for the future!
